The Documentary - Elmarie D

The PYP Exhibition has been a very large thing for all Year 6 learners. Learning to push our personal limits whether it’s sports or cooking, dance or mindfulness, we learn new skills for the future.

For me, my journey through Exhibition has been very interesting but fun. I had chosen Videography and its been a struggle! But it was a good struggle, and an amazing experience. The ATLs was our main focus, we had to teach ourselves one of them using a skill we also wished to learn. I am a very impatient person, I want to get better at that. So you guessed it, my ATL was perseverance.

I bet you're wondering ‘But why do videography?’ Well, if you don’t know, FILM is a very difficult thing and it takes time and patience to get done. And I thought ‘hey! Why not use video as my skill?’. To be fair, my mom did come up with the idea. But I grew it so that I would have plenty to work on throughout the several weeks we were gifted. My huge idea was to make a documentary of Year 6 and how people worked together or alone to get something finished. But we do live in the year 2021… the year of COVID 2.0

It was in the middle of Exhibition when the new COVID restrictions came up. Teachers said it would be fine, stay in groups of two and we should be fine. But it became worse so we had to go back home. Several of us had experienced online learning already some where new to it. Everyone struggled nonetheless. I probably drew the one of the short straws though, because I needed footage but I can’t really be around people… so I had to use the wondrous Gmail. Sending emails to people asking for some footage for my Exhibition. Some gave me a few videos, others ignored it.

It was almost like crossing a broken and rotten bridge over a never ending chasm. I had to jump over gaps to reach my goal, I had to collect and mend, and the only thing that kept me from falling into the darkness was the never ending support from people and of course, Books. The support from my friends and teachers was so amazing that I have finally reached my goal of a documentary of this years Exhibition.

The broken scars in the bridge have been healed, but they’ll return one day. And you who is reading this, I’m sure you’ve crossed that bridge as well.

The path that never ends - Shui S

My exhibition is all about mood swings and making a board game. One of the challenges making games, was building the games. There are often a lot of components and art that I needed to arrange ahead of time for the game to be a success. For example, I wanted to make a game like Monopoly, and the focus for that was the route goes round and round but it never ends. But how can that connect with my topic? Mood swings always end in the future. I have learned that mood swings don't end so quickly and easily, they suddenly slow down as you grow up. So there is no need to think about how I can end these irritating emotions. Even though you thought about it, it would be a loss.

The artistic piece that I made is based on the journey of my exhibition. The car that I’m in is the miniature car from the board game. It is a path that you see normally on board games. This art project makes me feel like there are lots more to find out. This art piece means a lot to me. One is finding out some new things. Another one is I tried going to the risky road that it says on my art, so now, I will think that risky road is fast and easy but, it gives me a lot of pressure. One last thing, this inspired me by thinking about my mood swing.

The connection between my symbolic piece and the journey of my exhibition is that there are some ups and downs, so if I go down that doesn’t mean that my project is horrible, it means that I am trying to improve it. So I am happy that there are some ups and downs and I go into a deep hole sometimes. And eventually, I will find a better way to find things and understand them way more easily.

Teaching drawing - Chenny S

I chose this topic ‘teaching drawing’ because I want to speak more English frequently with many people. And first I think it will easy

But I felt nervous when I had to do it, so now I teach 4 or 5 people.

And I enjoy finding a picture to teach and practice the picture and speak that I enjoy.

And in the exhibition, there is a drawing of myself explaining the drawing and on the whiteboard, there is a picture. Those pictures are all already taught to people. Also, the emoticon is the people feeling some people is good at this some people are bad at this

And the pencil and the paper are the things that need to be used in drawing.

The journey to my goal - Viggo C

I’ve worked really hard developing my public speaking skills in the exhibition personal inquiry.

I had to choose ATLS for public speaking so I have something to improve on. I chose social intelligence because I need to know what to do to hook in my audience. The second ATL I chose was resilience because I need to improve on my nervousness. And the third ATL was speaking because I’m speaking when I do public speaking. You get it. In the beginning of my journey I didn’t think the exhibition was going to be a challenge, but I had problems speaking to other people. I didn’t want to say anything wrong or pronounce something wrong because I didn’t want my audience to think I was weird. Another challenge was that the exhibition was super independent and that you had to plan everything yourself. Working from home created a challenge when I had to be even more independent. I've also stressed on the different things you needed to finnish for example, the expressive art piece, but after all my exhibition went very well and I’ve really taken a giant step forward in my public speaking.

I also want to tell you more about my artistic piece. The four pictures on the bottom show my different emotions during the exhibition. Blue is sad and nervous, red is irritated and angry, pink is calm and green is happy, welcoming and open. The little man climbing the mountains represents me going through my journey. The words in the clouds and in the other obstacles represent my difficulties and goals during the exhibition.
